Does a 7700 squawk mean the flight is in danger?

No. 7700 is the general emergency code and covers everything from a passenger taken ill to a technical fault the crew wants priority for. Most end as an ordinary landing with the fire service standing by as a precaution.

What does squawk 7600 mean?

The crew cannot reach air traffic control by radio. Aircraft follow a published lost-communications procedure for exactly this, and it is far more often a failed radio than a failing aircraft.

Is this an official emergency feed?

No. These are raw transponder codes broadcast by the aircraft and received by volunteer ADS-B stations. They are not confirmation that anything happened, they are sometimes set by mistake, and they are never a substitute for the airline or the relevant authority.

Why is the hijack code not listed?

Squawk 7500 is detected and recorded, but never published. In live data almost every 7500 is a keying error on the way to another code, and putting the words next to a real flight number on that basis would do more harm than good.

Why is the list sometimes empty?

Because nothing is squawking an emergency code in the current snapshot, which is the normal state of the sky. The recent alerts below are what we logged earlier.
